We will use the results to help us determine what the families of Prince Edward County need and want in regards to children's programs and how we can best respond to your family's child care needs. Tamara Kleinschmidt Child Care Fees and Options On September 1, 2011 we put into affect a new approach that allows parents to choose from a menu the child care option that best meets their individual needs. This improved choice embraces elements of flexibility and choice and responds to the diverse child care needs of families. Beyond the change to child care menu options, we implemented a two phase fee increase; the first in September 2011 and the second effective January 1st, 2012. We have strived to keep fee increases to an absolute minimum over the past five years, but as you will have noticed from your own personal experiences the cost for everyday life including food, fuel, services and supplies have increased. We are not exempt from these same expenses so our fee increase reflects these additional costs. Falling behind in rate increases has put our Centre in the position where we face difficult decisions regularly in regards to the quality programming your children deserve. We encourage parents to investigate the newly added provincial fee subsidy calculator, particularly if you require care for more than one child. Our staff can provide you with subsidy application information as well.
